Candy Wolfe and I signed up to work on the property crew for "Guys and Dolls" January of our sophomore year. Our first task was to make red and white carnations for Nathan Detroit's men, and red roses for the Hot Box girls. Candy went on to play Juliet opposite Ray Stadum's Romeo, and Marian's mother in "The Music Man".  I was happy to be on the prop crew - first the scavenger hunt to find everything, then the excitement of the shows, finally the satisfaction of being in on something really memorable.   I think Candy and I worked on all the plays and musicals.  Sometimes she was backstage,  sometimes on stage.

After she graduated from the U of M, Candy taught a short time, then moved to Chicago and became a flight attendant. I had a great time with her at our 25th reunion, and spent a day with her that week, visiting with my mother and her dad. She died the following year of ovarian cancer.  She mentioned having a little back pain the day we spent together, possibly an early symptom.  I've always been so thankful for that time we spent together. It was our class reunion that brought us back together.
