I went on for my BS in Sociology and a Certificate in Social Welfare. I then got my Masters in Social Work (MSW) in 1978. I was hired at Weber Mental Health soon after I graduated. I worked on the Consultation and Education Team doing consulting work in the community. I then worked on the Adult Mental Health Team, where I was also the Social Worker from Mental Health on the Psychiatric Unit at McKay-Dee Hospital until 2001. I then became the Program Supervisor of the Youth Mental Health Team overseeing about 15 youth therapists dealing with youth and adolescent mental health issues. I was and still have my license as a License Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). I retired in 2009 after 30 1/2 years to be with my husband, Henry and care for him who was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer in December, 2007. He passed away about 4 months after I retired in May, 2009. Henry and I had been together for 33 years. We did not have any children.
I have a niece who is 22 and a registered nurse at Peach Tree Assisted Living and a nephew, her brother who is 12 and lives in Florida with his parents, my younger brother, Wayne. My other brother, Bruce, lives in Hawaii and is a pediatric oncologist/hematologist doing research in AIDIS research. He just was awarded a 12.4 million dollar grant from National Institute of Health to help other doctors with health disparities such as diabetes, hypertention, weight, cholesterol in Hawaii.
Since retirement and after my husband died, I had been taking care of both my parents who are in their 80's. I went back to work part time as the Office Manager/Assistant for a local psychiatrist, Dr. Rhonda Lehr. I manage her office, contact insurance companies, collect copays/payments, do reminder cars, anprepare her charts before and after appointments. I work 3 days a week.
