Working at the Human Services Center for a few years after graduating was the beginning in the working field. After some education there I became a Psychiatric Technician. Coming home to Salem and helping dad at Melody Lanes brought quite a surprise. Joe, who had been my cribbage playing friend during high school, asked me out and soon after asked me to marry him. It truly was the best decision I had ever made when I said yes. (can you imagine asking Earl? poor guy) Joe and I did many things besides his working at the Post Office. We did school concessions, were bowling secretaries and I babysat. We both helped dad until we bought Melody Lanes from him in 1979. We were proprietors for 17 years when Joe was diagnosed with cancer. Joe lost his battle after 22 years of marriage. Besides the bowling Joe and I did lots of golfing together. I still miss him very much but do know I am one of the lucky ones to have had a great marriage. During the whole time I was involved with state bowling in one way or another. In 1994 I was inducted into the SD Bowling Hall of Fame for my meritorious service. I am retired now and live in Yankton. I enjoy movies, reading, playing cards and spending time with family and friends. I learned early on to live life to the fullest. So classmates I wish you much fun and laughter as it really is the best medicine! :)
