Howard Safran

Feb 7, 1952 ~ Feb 17, 2017
Howard Ellis Safran, beloved husband, father, and friend passed away on February 17, 2017, at his home surrounded by family and friends after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. He was born to Gertrude Wolf and Saul Safran on February 7, 1952 in Salt Lake City, Utah where he attended Olympus High School and the University of Utah. Growing up he was an active member in the local Jewish youth group which is how he met the love of life, Cynthia Davis, whom he married on October 12, 1980. Together they had two beautiful daughters and a lifetime of joy. Howard worked for Allstate Insurance for over 30 years and after retiring at the age of 59 spent his days building model airplanes, napping with his precious dogs, Stan & Ollie, and traveling the world with his sweetheart, Cindi. He loved playing golf and bridge with friends and will be remembered for his incredibly calm and positive spirit and the fact that everyone who ever met Howard came away a better person for having known him.
Howard is survived by his adoring wife, Cindi; daughters, Rachel and Sarah; brothers, Robert (Sher) and Paul (Marlana); and many extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents. The family wishes to give special thanks to the staff of Quality Hospice for the love and care given to Howard and his family in his final days. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be to the ACLU or the Humane Society of Utah.
