Alan Richard Tanner 1952 ~ 2009 Alan Richard Tanner, loving son, brother, husband, and father, passed away on June 27, 2009. Due to medical complications, he went home to his Heavenly Father.Born on July 2, 1952 in Salt Lake City, UT, to Richard and Laurel Olsen Tanner. Alan was the third child of seven (Carolyn, Dianne, David, Bryce, Keith, and Mark). He was raised in a strong LDS family with love and support. Graduated from Olympus High School in 1970. He served a full-time mission in the Kentucky-Tennessee area. Studied at the Utah Technical College to become an electrician. Worked for 35 years as an Electrician for the Church Office building where he also met his sweetheart, Pamela Rae Simmons. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple for time and all eternity on March 9, 1979. Together they raised a family of five children (Nicholas, Steven, Michael, Matthew, and Tiffany). Alan held various callings in the church including Primary teacher, Physical Facilities Representative, and Sunday School president. He was a Cub Scout Master that enjoyed going on scout camps with his sons, and spending time with his daughter. He enjoyed swimming, camping, and family vacations. He liked cooking, working in the yard and reading. Alan was positive, and always wore a smile on his face. He was a great example for others that he was around. He blessed many lives and will be missed by everyone. The viewing will be held July 1, 2009 from 6-8 p.m. at the Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park (3401 S. Highland Dr). The Funeral services will take place July 2, 2009 from 11 to noon at the Valley View 8th Ward (4395 S. Albright Dr 2145 E.). Interment will be held at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park. Special thanks to all the hospital medical staff for their dedicated service.

We walked the same path to and from Sherman Elementary. He was always such a quiet and kind soul.
