Jackie and I were best friends before and after high school. We both were raised by our mothers. We used to dress a like when attending East. We were like sisters. She married Jim Hards. They had 2 children , a boy and a girl. They lived in Blanding, Utah. After time they divorced. She didn't remarry. She moved to St. George and worked at the hospital there. She became an EMT and taught classes. Around the years 1980 to 1982 Jackie was diagonised with cancer. Her family keep me informed. On a Saturday morning my husband (at the time) and I headed down to see her in the hospital. When we got there the front desk took us in a small room. I was told my dear lifelong friend had passed away an hour before i got there. It was heartbreaking. The nurse was told to send me to the funeral home. Her mother, Maureen was there doing Jackie's hair. I helped her the best I could. She used to be a beautician until artihis crippled her hands.
The funeral was held in the LDS ward.in St George,Utah. I got to visit with her dad and meet her children after years. I have the funeral program, but am unable to locate it right now. Jackie was burried in the local cemetry.
I have years and years of wonderful memories with my special sister-friend to cherish with love.
