Colleen Coker (Green)

Ginger was my only friend in school till the 5th grade. She was interested in the same thing I was and she had a vivid imagination. Summers were spent at her house where we played games, watched "Dark Shadows" and drank Cokes. In school she would pass me notes written in mirror image so the teachers couldn't read them. She was one of my brides maids when I married. We kept in touch as I followed my husband when he was in the military and she sent me care packages when I was living in Europe. We drifted in two different directions when I returned, raised a family and went to college, but she was always a friend when I needed her. She was one of the most accepting, kind, stubborn, and intelligent people I have ever known.

I miss her so much and I think of her often, especially when I smell lilacs or see The Lord of the Rings.
