Bradley M. Vom Baur1956 ~ 2012Bradley M. Vom Baur, a generous and talented member of the Salt Lake Community, passed away on Friday, January 6th, 2012. Brad was loved dearly by those who knew him and will be forever remembered as a man who loved life and had a unique appreciation for its many quirks.Brad was born on August 6th, 1956 to Lois G. and Donald M. Vom Baur in Salt Lake City. In his youth he was passionate about football, skiing, and especially swimming, which was one of his many true gifts.After graduating from Olympus High School in 1974, Brad's swimming achievements landed him a scholarship at the University of Southern California, where he dominated both as an athlete and as a student. His persistent dedication to his studies not only earned him a Bachelor of Science Degree in Communications, but also awarded him the honor of Magna Cum Laude. Brad continued his education at the Medill School of Journalism Northwestern University and earned a Master of Advertising Degree.Large advertising firms such as Ted Bates in New York City, and J. Walter Thompson in Chicago, enlisted Brad's creative expertise early in his career. His wonderful dry sense of humor and comedic writing earned him recognition by The New York Times, and The Wall Street Journal, among other publications. As a talented writer, his TV ideas were optioned by The Walt Disney Company and Warner Brothers. Brad's passion for becoming an entrepreneur led him to pursue his last venture, Turbo Express Car Wash and Detail in 2006.Brad's humanitarian nature and generosity enabled him to help others in many ways. Whether he was raising money for needy children, coaching little-league football, or giving free lectures at local universities, he always put others before himself. His greatest joys in life included giving back to the community, discovering the outdoors, traveling, family, friends and pets.Shortly after returning to Salt Lake City in 1990, Brad met Barbara Bagley, the woman he would spend the rest of his life with. They loved each other and had lots of fun together over the last 21 years. Brad is survived by his spouse, Barbara Bagley, stepchildren, Chelsea (Stephen) Metrulas, Heather Bagley and Kurt Bagley, one grandchild, Christopher Metrulas, cousins and many close friends, who were like brothers to Brad. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Jeffrey D.
