Charlie Bobbish
Marie Bell, Rex’s wife, just emailed me that Rex passed away on Saturday, the 20th. Rex had a bone marrow transplant in February, along with radiation therapy to treat bone cancer. In 2013, when the cancer first appeared, he endured the same treatment, and recovered well.
In February, he again reacted to the transplant very well, and was allowed to go home after a few days (rather than the 3 to 5 weeks the doctors anticipated). His immunity was at that point, however, practically non-existent.
At Easter, he was still making good progress, and had the same attitude of the Rex we’ve known since he showed up at Highland Hills Elementary School when we were all in the 4th grade.
On August 4th, Marie told me Rex was in the hospital, in ICU, with multiple bacterial infections and pneumonia, but they were hopeful.
Sadly, however, we lost a classmate who was always full of life and energy, and a quick wit that was unmatched.
Please keep Rex’s family in your prayers
Charlie
