In the work force Wayne spent most of his career in the food service industry starting out with Luby's and over the years opening many restaurants and designing kitchens and menus. He was an Certified Executive Chef and served on the State and National Board at various times. Wayne lived in Austin for about forty years and he and Susan were active in Covenant United Methodist Church. Wayne worked with the youth for many years and in addition to helping with fundraisers he "adopted" many young people who needed an adult to take them to school activities or sit in the stands and cheer for them as they played sports or played in the band. Wayne had a positive impact on many young people working thru the church.
