I was extremely saddened by Laura's passing. She was a friend of mine and even came to visit me on her bike with her two sons when we both lived in Littleton, CO. Somehow, sadly, we never linked up again as our lives were busy in different directions. My prayers are with her family.

I am so sorry that Laura suffered.  Yes, she lives on in the hearts of her family and friends.  I wish I did not have experience of pancreatic cancer in my own family.

Laura's passing truly leaves a hole in my heart and I know many of you feel the same..  If you were an acquantance of Lauras, be thankful.  If you were a friend of Laura's your were blessed.  If you were a "life-long" friend of Laura's then you can count yourself as one of the few people who were  very very LUCKY.  If you were a part of Laura's family then you have truly lived an enriched life with her presence.

About the time we were all "Burned out" of El Camino in 1963, our paths crossed.  We were displaced students and went to Fessler until the School, El Camino, could be put back together.  My first recollection of Laura was at one of the dances Fessler had sponsored.  All of my Buds were there and all of her gang was there.  We became good friends from that point on and continued being good friends throughout.  We all ran together and she was exceptionally good friends with Sheila, so we were all ending up together at different events.  A bit later, after, I turned 16 and could drive, it was not uncommon to find myself together with the three crazy and wonderful sisters.  Cindy, Joni and Laura.  I always perplexed my how one great couple could have had such beautiful and smart young ladies.

I can say my time at Santa Maria High School was the BEST times of my life.  It was because of all of you, my gang, and of course Laura & Sheila's crowd, and most importantly, Laura.  A convaluted and complicated set of circumstances put us together as the "FUN" team at our High School Graduation Party at the Vet's Hall.  A Blast we had, just hanging together, dancing, doing whatever fun things they thought we should do, and winning a bunch of prizes.  It was in no way the wild parties I was used to, but we simply decided to see this one through, and together, we took in the 'finality' of our Graduation from the BEST High School in the WEST.  It is this moment in time I remember most.

Shortly thereafter, I became a Wildland Firefigher and emmersed myself into 50 years doing my thing across the US, Canada & Australia.  We did stay in touch remotely, but certainly enough for both of us to know that we were life-long friends from afar.  She was so proud of her health and so proud of her family.  In April she shared this picture of Health with me.  She said "Happy to be out on a great day in Colorado.  Probably taken by Ed.  What happened next was fast and horrific and pains our very souls.

My condolences to you Ed, Devin, Brent, Cindy and Joni.    Devin and FAM; I can"t help but think that this new baby coming in January will have the heart & soul of your Matriarch & Grandma Laura.

Know that we ALL feel so lucky to have know this wonderful Lady and thank you all for always being there for her.

R.I.P. and God Bless Laura

Ronnie Raley

She was kind, accepting and so beautiful.
