Following graduation from West Seattle in 1960, I worked various odd jobs, including Western Electric, while attending Highline Community College. In 1963 I married Lonna Ross, had our first child, Wendy Lynn. Then worked at Boeing as a journeyman machinist. We had our first little boy, Rusty soon after. I worked for Boeing for 6 years and decided to move out of the city to build a home East of Renton, Briarwood area. We had 2 more little boys, Michael James and Christopher. We also have a foster son, David, wife Bobbie and 2 grandsons and a granddaughter. During the big lay-off of 1970 I went to school again in electronics, landed a good job with Financial Systems where I was Director of Operations for 28 years. We enjoyed our life being active in the kids activities from 4-H and horse shows, coaching, watching and playing soccer, baseball, wrestling, rugby, football with all the kids. We had motorcycles and camped every weekend for about 10 yrs racing up the Cle Elum coal hills. Later spending summers camping at The Dunes at Florence,Oregon. We still go there at least once every summer.
Lonna and I have also travelled to China with a men's soccer team I played on, climbed the Great Wall, Walked through the Teanimin Square, The Forbidden City in Beijing, visited the Terracotta Soldiers in Xi'an, the Zoo with the Pandas, as well as many beautiful shrines, gardens, water gardens, restaurants, and shops. IT was an amazing trip. We've also visited family in Surrey, and Shrewsbury, England and enjoyed their great hospitality and warm atmosphere you can only find in England.
After retiring for the first time from Financial Systems to tend to rentals and remodel and landscape our home, I went back to work for The Home Depot. I really enjoy working with my hands and helping others solve some of their household problems and exploring ways to complete their projects.
Now with all our kids and 15 grandchildren, (except one in Calif), living fairly close by, the time just flies by with all the acitivities, sports and birthdays that we are very much a part of and we love every minute. Depite the normal ups and downs, we have a lot to be thankful for. Life has been very good to us.
