My first memory of Robert was in the ninth grade and we were being timed for the 1 mile run. We had to beat 8 minutes. I remember before I was halfway through the 1st lap Robert passed me on his second. Then passed me again 2 more times! I think his run time was close to 4:30. Incredible speed!
This memory is from the old field below Blue Ridge JR. High where I believe it was 7th grade PE Class. Coach Willie Mac. said 'da de dat boys fast". Yes he was very fast and though I lost touch with him since graduation I can read through his Obituary that he had a life full of family and friends. God Bless all he left behind.
Hi Debra, my heart goes out to you and your family. Robert as I remember him was a very kind, kinda quiet and very respectful person. So very nice to see high school sweethearts remain together for a lifetime. A family that endures good and bad together is a family that has gained one of the biggest treasures in life by treasuring that family.
