I am so sad that Bruce contracted ALS. Like most of us who knew him in high school, I thought he was extremely smart. I knew he was interested in government/current affairs. I imagined him as being a U.S. Representative or Senator someday. I didn't know him well. I was shy, and a transfer student when I enrolled in Shaker my sophmore year. I was decidedly not one of the "cool kids." The only time Bruce and I spoke was when we were paired together in the line of students marching to their seats during the 1968 graduation ceremony. We were put together because we were about the same height. We exchanged pleasantries. If Bruce knew how self-conscious and nervous I was, he was too polite to point it out. I'm glad to learn that he became a 14th Amendment litigator. Goodness knows we need a lot of such attorneys to protect and preserve our 14th Amendment rights. Thank you Bruce, for all you did for Americans, for your Shaker classmates. You will be missed. My condolences to your family and friends.

Valorie, I really missed you at the reunion, and I'm so sorry about Lavalle. I remember him for his piano playing; he was very good. My sympathies to his family, and to you.
I was just writing a classmate about how much I liked your social studies class. I remember the last class I had with you before I graduated. You went around the room and predicted what each student would be doing years later. You said you weren't sure about me because I was so quiet and seldom raised my hand in class. But I heard you, and one of the reasons I majored in print and radio journalism is because, in your own way, you taught us about speaking truth to power. This is 50 years late, but thank you for being a great teacher and encouraging us to think, question, and analyze what's going on in the world.
Hello Leslie, sorry I didn't really get a chance to talk to you at the reunion lunch today. I was going a little nuts because I thought I had lost my phone. It was in my bag the whole time! Talk about a senior moment! Anyway, hope to run into you again. I still have relatives in the Cleveland area, so I return about once a year. Take care.

Really had a nice time at the reunion and it was good to see everyone. There was one person I said hello to but I can't remember his name. I met him as I was leaving the high school tour Saturday. He was wearing a like a trader beads necklace, and he said he remembered me from classes. I'm embarrassed that I forgot his name, so if you're reading this, please get back to me. Have a good week and a good rest of the year!

Does anyone know if any of the teachers we had are coming to the reunion, or if they're still around, like Mr. Polloi or Mr. Graham?
