School Story:
Band geek extraodinaire! Many hours marching in parades and then leading the band as Drum Major my Senior year. Playing at many home games and hating the 1976 uniforms we had to wear! Anyone remember those gold cumberbunds? Ugh! I happily recall winning 2nd runner up in the Ms. Trojani pageant...I was a bottle of Coppertone Suntan Oil (my bff Kristen Pruett came up with that idea!) as we had to depict the seasons. Kristi Moshures and Tim Hughes singing "Endless Love" in the talent show one year. Ahhh, French with Mrs. Kaythell Williams: "Tell it to the man on the moon" and "Get your A.C.T.'s together!" You know, I still see her around Shallotte and she still remembers me! "Bonjour Mrs. Kay!" Still remember Val-o-grams! Wish I had kept one! Well, West looks a lot different now...courtyard is still there but they built a massive building in front of it where the new office and new cafeteria are now. Of course the prom and I was stoked 'cuz my dad let me stay out 'til 2am for the first time ever (military dad...need I say more?) Gene's brother Richard winning Best Trombone award and then sadly, passing away a month later from a brain aneurysm...hard to believe that happened 20 yrs ago last July. My youngest, Preston Richard, takes after him...he lives up to Richard's name and memory!
