Elise Mathis Ascosi

John, who was also in the Class of 1968, and I married December 1968. we both attended college for a short time, but didn't graduate from college. John worked part time for Safeway for a while, and also worked as a furniture refinisher at a piano company. He eventually dropped Safeway and continued refinishing and rebuilding pianos. He also did furniture refinishing and restoration as a side business, (especially antiques). He was truly gifted and loved his work. Some of his restoration included pieces in embassies, and pieces owned by well-known people. When he wasn't working, he enjoyed life with his family.....raising our son John, helping others, joking....a truly wonderful father, son, friend, and husband. A gentle giant. John passed away suddenly at home in March 2008. A great loss for all. He had many happy memories of Blair, especially working on our teams medical issues during games.

I worked in the school library with Miss Stickley, and continued through the summer after graduation. I remember that John brought me a Valentine's Day gift in our senior year--gave it to me at the front desk in the library. I still have it, 50 years later! My happiest memories were spent in chorus and choir, with Mrs. Huntley and members of both groups. The companionship, singing, and commitment we all shared was wonderful! One memory John and I shared was when we walked down the graduation aisle together. It was a proud day!!! I also spent many fun lunch hours hanging out with friends from class of 1967 near the jukebox! GOOD TIMES!!!!!!!
