The Float

Some information regarding the parade and float judging can be accessed here and here. And some additional input from the Alumni Association:
"Please instruct people that they CAN NOT drop off people from the road. It holds up the traffic and the police department frown on this. We pay lots of money for insurance, security and traffic control so we don't want to cause any preventable problems. EVERYONE MUST enter at the lower end of Clinton Street by the Bike Path entrance. There will be someone there to direct you either to the float staging area, classic cars or dignitary cars.
Lastly I would ask that you would spread the word of how important it is to support the alumni association by purchasing our popcorn and donating to the bucket brigade. Every box of popcorn sold and every dollar that is given helps keep the parade going every year , the newsletters mailed out, awards given etc. It cost the association thousands of dollars to keep everything happening. Even if you only have a $1.00 to give you would be surprised how it can mount up."
May 25
Float Work Day
The Float Committee met at Gene's home today to see how the guys were coming along so that the girls could start their projects. The guys have a bit more to do before we can begin putting the "waves/cloth" around the bottom of the boat. It is progressing nicely. Ronnie has already made 2 signs to put at the entrance of the BFCC to make it easier for classmates to find the right driveway. Priscilla shared an example of the center pieces that Marlene had put together.
We will be meeting again on Friday, June 1st and Friday June 8th at 1:00 PM.
All are welcome!!!
Projects will be to start stapling the cloth to the boat; to attach the additional pictures to the 3 poster boards of deceased classmates; to organize the center pieces into separate boxes to aid those setting up the tables on the 16th. I am sure there will be other jobs also. Thanks to Gene for letting us use his garage and shed.
