Bernard Blais

February 23, 1939 - February 27, 1989

Bernard V Blais, Sr

SPRINGFIELD - Bernard V Blais, Sr, 50, of Old Connecticut River Road, died suddenly Monday at his home.

He was born in Springfield, February 23, 1939, son of Vital P and Gervaise (Potwin) Blais.

He was raised in Springfield and was graduated from Springfield High School in 1958.

He was a former member of the Vermont National Guard and was employed at Fellows Corp in the early 60s.

For many years he operated a vegetable farm. He also did landscaping, logging and trapping.

He was founder of Farmers Market in Springfield. He was a member of the Vermont Small Fruit and Vegetable Growers Association, Springfield Moose Club and the New Hampshire Antique Tractor Club. He was a former member of the National and Vermont Trappers Association.

Besides his mother of Springfield, he is survived by his wife Dorothy (Bibens) Blais; four sons, Bernard Victor Blais, Jr and William M Blais , both of Springfield, David C Blais and Thomas A Blais, both of Perkinsville; two daughters, Maureen B Blais and Barbara D Blais, both of Springfield; a sister Alice Blais of Newport, NH; a grandson; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his father and sister, Lillian Blais.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 pm in Davis Memorial Chapel with the Rev James Shea, pastor of St Mary Church, officiating. Burial will be at a later date in St Mary Cemetery.

Friends may call Wednesday from 7 to 9 pm.
