I remember Lee Damon as a very good basketball player - having played for hours and hours at the Community House gym.  He was so good that Coach Birsky told him " that his passing game was so good that nobody on the team could catch his passes." So he cut Lee from the team.  After getting out of the military, I and several  other guys hung out and partied with Lee. I can say that us guys {and several young ladies}, have never met a more fun loving person than Lee Damon. He was a legend, in his own time. He packed more living in his short lifetime than anybody else I have ever known.

Lee was a good friend during high school. We, as Dick Forbush, notes played a lot of basketball at the Community House and at the tennis courts by the junior high. I recall a group of us gathering on Sunday afternoons at his house to watch the NY Giants play football before there were NE Patriots. We also had fun times around the Springfield area. Lee was part of our wedding party soon after his discharge from the Marines. Life took us in different directions after that -  me to Boston for a decade or so while Lee remained in the Springfield area. So we lost touch, but the memories of a good friendship still remain.

Lee Damon was a fun guy and probably knew about everyone at SHS. I always kind of thought of him as "The James Dean of Springfield HS". He had a lot of friends and just enough wild side to be a fun and exciting friend.
