John Edmands

CASTLETON, Vt. - John C. "Jack" Edmands, 55, of Eaton Hill Road, died unexpectedly Saturday morning (July 29, 1995) at his home.
 
He lived in Castleton for a few years and was a former longtime Springfield and Charlestown resident.
 
He owned and operated Discount House Department Store in Granville, N.Y. Previously, for several years, Mr. Edmands was a sales representative for heavy equipment dealerships in Vermont and New York.
 
During the 1960s and 1970s, Mr. Edmands was active in Vermont politics.
 
He was a longtime member of Springfield Elks Lodge No. 1560.
 
He was born in Hanover, N.H., on May 28, 1940, the son of John and Lucille (Carroll) Pariseau.
 
Mr. Edmands attended Springfield schools and was a 1958 Springfield High School graduate.
 
In 1976, he married Shari Carlson and they lived in Charlestown before moving to Castleton.
 
Survivors include his wife, Shari of Castleton; one son, John C. Edmands II of Springfield; one stepson, Eric J Carlson of Hudson, N.H.; a stepdaughter, Adrianne Carlson of Salem, Mass.; one sister, Carol Edmands of Weathersfield; and nieces and nephews.
 
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Parish Church Center on Pleasant Street in Springfield with the Rev. James Shea, pastor, as celebrant.
 
Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery in Springfield.
 
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Davis Memorial Chapel, 99 Summer St., in Springfield. Springfield Elks Lodge members will conduct a service at 8 p.m.
