In Memory

Joyce Harvey (MacDougall)

Joyce Ann (Harvey) MacDougall, passed into Gods hands at age 82 from complications of Alzheimer’s on July 10, 2022, at home with her husband Bill, by her side, in The Village of Duneden, Florida.

Joyce is survived by her husband Bill of 38 years, her son Todd Cichonowicz (wife Becky and grandson Jeremy) of Abingdon, MD, her step children Shand MacDougall (wife Lexi) of Nottingham, MD, Krista MacDougall (grandson Lincoln) of Seattle, WA., and her sister Barbara Burton of The Villages, FL.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents Clara and George Harvey of Springfield, VT.

Joyce was born on May 19, 1940, in Springfield, VT to Clara and George. Joyce graduated from Springfield High School in 1958, and lived in Springfield until 1984.

We celebrated our marriage in Ludlow, VT. Joyce then moved out of the “big city” with Bill to the hills of Mount Holly, VT, then on to Plymouth, VT until 2015 when we moved to The Villages. Joyce and Bill attended the Annunciation Church in Ludlow where we have many friends. We also frequented the American Legion in Ludlow where fellow Vets treated Joyce like a princess.

Joyce worked as an Administrative Assistant until her retirement in the 1980s. Joyce was a loving wife and mother, she made our home beautiful and warm. Joyce made a colorful rock garden on the hill where she said “You plant the rocks and I will plant the flowers”.

Joyce was active in The Tyson Ladies organization which raised funds for the less fortunate, through bake sales and yard sales. She was known for her great baking skills, especially her snicker doodles. Joyce and Bill enjoyed many Harley rides and frequently stopping for ice cream. Along with traveling the world, holding hands in Europe, Africa, The Mid East, Asia, South and North America, life was full together.

Joyce’s funeral will be held on August 5th at 11:00 a.m. at St Vincent DePaul’s Catholic church in Wildwood, where Father John McCracken will be the celebrant.

The family would like to thank Vicki Yates and all our Looper’s for all their support and understanding.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer Research or Cornerstone Hospice would be appreciated.

I am so sorry to hear about Joyce.  I remember her beautiful smile and upbeat spirit during our school years. She and Bill were both faithful class of '58 Breakfast attendees and we missed them when they moved to Florida.  Also "Harvey's Flower Shop" was a favorite place to purchase plants for many years.  Always enjoyed the conversations with her mom and dad when I went there.  Condolences to Bill and Joyce's family.  Also to Bobbi Crossman White as they grew up next door to each other. So sad to have another classmate pass away.  Priscilla

Joyce was beautiful, elegant, super-intelligent, and one of the nicest human beings ever. She had a special smile and warmth that radiated and made you feel noticed and accepted.  Truly a loss for her family and many friends.  Remember her presiding at one of our class reunions -- it was a tour de force!
