Richard Laber, 57
 
CANTON, Mich. - Richard F. Laber, 57, died suddenly Saturday (Sept. 6, 1997) at Oakwood Hospital in Canton Center, Mich.
 
He was born in Springfield on June 14, 1940, the son of Ferris and Mary (Kazak) Laber. He attended schools in Springfield.
 
Mr. Laber was employed by Flint Ink Corp., of Plymouth, Mich., for the past 28 years. His most recent position was vice president of purchasing.
 
Survivors include his wife, Virginia M. (Davis) Laber of Canton; three sons, Richard F. Laber, Kevin J. Laber and Corey J. Laber, all of Canton; one daughter, Lisa A. Laber of Canton; his parents of Charlestown; one brother, Robert Laber of Charlestown; and two sisters, Debra Lorinovich of Montpelier, Vt., and Susan Rock of Bridgeton, Maine.
 
Funeral services were held Tuesday at St. Michael Lutheran Church in Canton.
 
Burial was in Parkview Memorial Cemetery in Livonia, Mich.
 
Memorial donations may be made in his name to The F.A.N.P. Orphanage in care of the L.J. Griffin Funeral Home, 42600 Ford Road, Canton, Mich. 48187.

Kenneth Spence

Dick and I were great friends, perhaps even more so soon after high school. We used to hang together looking for "things to do". Ultimately, Barb and I introduced him to one of her friends at Green Mountain College and, as Barb and I did, he and Linda eventually married. Unfortunately, later on their marriage ended.

When Dick and his new wife were back in this area many years ago now we had them as our guests here in Newport. It was a fun evening.
