Just spoke with Patchy's daughter today, December 7, 2023. She told us Patchy passed away October 28.

Her picture to the right is from the 60th reunion at the Bellows Falls Country Club in 2018.

Patch and I were friends since kindergarten and made many memories over the years. SHe was a good friend for many years and always kept in touch, if only at Christmas in recent years. She will be remembered and kept in my prayers.  Rest in peace. With fond memories, Lila

I'm sad to hear Patch has died.  I hope the end of her life was not too difficult.  She certainly did have her share of hard times in her life.  I'm grateful to you, Fred, for the many efforts you made to make contact over the past couple of years.  For all that she could be outspoken, she was a really private person in many ways.  Smart, funny, caring, too.

I am so very sad to learn of Patchy's passing...Fred had tried so many times going over to her home, etc. and got no response. Now we know why...My prayers go out to her daughter.

Today, February 22, 2024, a Memorial Service was held  at the Fish Interfaith Center on the Chapman University Campus for Dr Patricia See. Fortunately I was able to get a neighbor to stay with Carol so that I could attend. There were about 100 people there, mostly Chapman professors or former students. Several faculty members made presentations. My hearing aids bit the dust earlier in the day and I was unable to hear almost all of what was said but it came through loud and clear that she was very well liked and held in high esteem. As the last speaker was ending the service I stood and asked if I could say something. I started off by saying that although we met in a classroom I never knew her as a professor. The class was second year Latin in Springfield, Vermont High School. The year was 1955. I said that her family moved to Florida just before her senior year but that she as well as I had kept in touch with the Class of '58. On the occasion of quinquennial reunions a booklet was often published containing classmate contact information. Accordingly, in 1979 when I moved from upstate NY to Orange County I knew how to get hold of her and did even after having not seen her for 22 years. Over the subsequent years we had varying degrees of interaction one of which was hiking with a small group in the county's regional parks and the Cleveland National Forest. I then said I still think of her as Patchy Williams and offered my condolences as well as the Class of '58's to both Ariana and the Chapman family.

Thank you Fred for attending and speaking at Patchy's memorial service.  You were able to let people know about Patchy's early years living in Springfield, Vermont and some of the very fond memories we all had with her growing up.  Also it was nice to learn from Patchy's associates and friends and how loved and respected she was by all who came in contact with her in California.  She will always be missed at our gatherings.  Thank you once again---know it was not an easy thing to do.  Pris

A friend since kindergarten when we went to Mrs. Hogue's home along with Lila and shared car pooling.  Was fortunate to be able to have chatted  on the phone a couple of times with her not long before her stroke.  And we had some good laughs.  She will always be Patchy to me.  Chris Beardsley

Thank you Fred for representing us at Patchy’s memorial.

What can one say after 77 years of friendship? We grew up together and were like family.

We will miss you Patch.

Prayers love and blessings,

Diana
