Robert LaBonte

February 23, 1925 - July 8, 1999

WEATHERSFIELD - Robert Norman LaBonte, 74, formerly of Springfield, died Thursday at his home. 

He was born Feb. 28, 1925, in Warwick, R.I., son of Donat and Ada (Monte) LaBonte. 

Mr. LaBonte attended schools in Connecticut, Keene, N.H., and Pennsylvania State University, where he received his master's degree. 

He was married to Marcella Courchesne on Nov. 22, 1945, in Manchester, N.H. 

He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. 

Mr. LaBonte taught high school and was a building contractor. He was director of vocational education and served on the Vermont Sate Board of Education. He was manager of Industrial and Community Relations at Fellows Corp. in Springfield until his retirement. 

He was active in many local clubs and organizations.

Survivors include his wife, Marcella; a son, Robert LaBonte of Weathersfield; two daughters, Michelle Morrell of Exeter, N.H., and Linda LaBonte of Springfield; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. 

The funeral will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Springfield by the Rev. James M. Shea, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery in Springfield.
