Edward Peter Shattuck Obituary,  February 5, 1999

Peter Shattuck Chester - E. Peter Shattuck, 57, of School Street, died Friday evening, Feb. 5,

at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H., after a brief illness. He was bom Dec.

25, 1941, in Springfield, a son of Bernard and Mildred (Smith) Shattuck. He attended schools in

Springfield, and graduated from Springfield High School. He also graduated from William

& Mary College with a degree in economics. He lived in Springfield for many years and

had resided in Chester for the past 21 years. He was employed by Finn & Stone Insurance

Agency for several years, and in 1976 formed his own agency, The Shattuck Agency in Chester.

He was a member for 31 years and Past Exalted Ruler of the Springfield B.P.O.E. No. 1560. He

was a member and past president of the Springfield and Chester Lions Clubs. He was

instrumental in reopening the Lions Charter in Chester. He was past president of the United Way

in Springfield. He was very active for many years in both the Elks Club and Lions Clubs. He is

survived by his former wife, Sandra (LaBombard) Shattuck of Chester; his mother, Mildred

Shattuck of Springfield; a son, Scott Shattuck of Dallas; two daughters, Tracy Shattuck of

Miami, and Kathleen Shattuck of Chester; a brother, Michael Shattuck of Lynn, Mass.; two

sisters Kathleen Piatt of Meadowlands, Pa., and Lynne Colby of Spring-field; and several nieces

and nephews. A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at St. Lukes Episcopal Church

in Chester. The Rev. Andrew Osmun will officiate. Burial will be held at a later date in St. Marys

Cemetery in Spring-field. Friends may call Tuesday evening from 7 to 9 at the Davis Memorial

Chapel, 99 Summer St., Springfield. An Elks service will be held at 8 p.m. Contributions may be

made in Mr. Shattucks memory to the Vermont Heart Association, 12 Hurricane Lane, P.O. Box

485, Williston, Vt. 05495. Arrangements are under the direction of Davis Memorial Chapel in

Springfield.
