I just retired from a 46 year nursing career which
was immensely satisfying. I'd do it again. I love
living in rural Ottertail County on a lake, with the
peace and quiet here. Now Lloyd and I will be spending 3 months in Ft. Myers, Florida for a few
years, mainly for Twins Spring training. We are
enjoying travel on side trips. I am healthy, take no
pills myself, have some arthritic spots however!
I have been to Nicaragua on a Mission trip, and found out in a fast hurry that I am not suited for
that type of work!! I will do what I can here in the USof A! I did go to Assisi, Italy twice on pilgrimage because I am an Associate of the Franciscan Sisters of Little Falls, meaning I choose to live my life following in the footsteps of Francis of Assisi. At one time I thought I should join the convent, didn't do it then, so this is the closest I will get to
that kind of commitment. I love it. I did attend Nursing College with the Franciscans where my love for them started.
Following my RN licensure, I worked for 15 years, had those 4 kids, and went back to school to be a nurse practitioner. I ended up with a BSN and
master's work to end up as a NP. It was not all a bed of roses, but I survived, and glad I took that fork in the road. It was a marvelous career.
