In 1988, I had no idea where life would take me. After high school, I graduated from the University of Arkansas with a BS in Industrial Engineering. I started my career in manufacturing and operations management. I actually quit a great job at Sony because I was bored... Along the way, I earned an MBA from Indiana Wesleyan University. By this time, I had lived in Arkansas, Missouri, and Indiana.
In 1997, James and I were married and moved to South Carolina. I transitioned from operations to engineering management. This time, when I got bored (seeing a pattern), I started a second job teaching as an adjunct faculty member at Southern Wesleyan University. Quincy was born in 2000. When he turned two, I took a division role that required me to travel +50% of the time.
In 2004, I wanted another challenge, so I started working on a doctorate, while balancing wife, mommy, and work responsibilities. Early the next year, I was approached about expanding my horizon by accepting global marketing position in the corporate HQ. We packed up the family and re-located to western PA.
Fastforward three years and I have had the opportunity to travel extensively throughout Asia, Europe, North and Latin Americ--developing new business for energy markets. I have completed all of coursework requirements, pending completion of actually writing the dissertation. By the end of the year, I will be Dr. Latanyua T. Robinson.
The next milestone is write a business plan and start a family business. I made a promise to Quincy that I will retire from corporate America before age 40 in order to devote most of my attention to him...
