Sydney Academy High School
Class Of 1983
Phil David
-Dalhousie '87 (BSc, Kinesiology)
-Dalhousie,'89 (MBA, Marketing)
Have been living in Toronto since '90, working in Marketing for Wrigley's, Mars, Swiss Chalet among others.
Started a marketing consulting practice (Brand Champions) in May '07 a few days after finishing treatment for colon cancer. Just woke up one morning, re-assessed my priorities and entered my mid-life crisis all at the same time.
Been coaching competitive hockey since '93 and in October '07, became completely irresponsible and took 6 months off to coach pro hockey in England in a town very much like Sydney. Most of the Brits couldn't understand my Cape Breton accent, but they were easily able to pick out the multi-syllable swear words when we were scored upon.
Very sorry I missed the re-union. The pics look great and everyone has aged so gracefully.
So sad to hear about our classmates who are no longer with us. After my own close calls in '06/'07, perspective certainly changes. I wish the class of '83 and your families lots of health and happiness.
Hope to see you at the 50th.
First day jitters in September '80; shooting the drag aimlessly in the AMC Eagle; hanging out at MacDonald's; pre-dance get-togethers in the freezing cold; Wild Bill's memorable lessons; Carol Douglas' French class; working at Ike's for $2.00/hour; lunchtime hockey practice; renting a VCR for $50 to watch our first video; sneaking into the Drive-in to save a buck; Failing to get into Smooth Herman's for 52 straight weeks.
