I moved to London in 1988 and worked for a Canadian design firm designing shopping centers around Europe. I moved to Berlin in 1991, just after the Berlin wall came down. I opened the Berlin office of RKW, Germany's largest architectural firm and became managing partner and office manager. We specialized in large commercial projects. My two daughters arrived 15 months apart, requiring a baby break. In 2006 I became a fundraiser for the reconstruction of the Berlin Palace, the 500 year old palce of the Prussian kings which was demolished after WWII. I am very often in Washington and New York City working on this project.
