Barbara Ditslear (Barnes)

Naples, Florida

Barbara Ann Ditslear Barnes, 68, died on November 30, 2009 at Avow Hospice in Naples, FL, after seven years of battling cancer.  Barbara was preceded in death last year by her husband of 35 years, Walter N. Barnes, Jr.

She is survived by her children Kent (Rhonda) margraf, Tracey Wilbourn, and Todd (Debbie) Margraf and her stepchildren, Walter N. Barnes III, Bradley Barnes and mark (Cassie) Barnes; as well as 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.  She is also survived by her mother, Doris Wertz; her brothers and sisters, Dick (Virginia( Ditslear, Jack Ditslear, Ron (Shella) Ditslear, Judy (Dick) Pratt, Valerie (Ed) Beitel, Mike (Charlene) Ditslear, Russell (Sandy) Wertz, Gene Wertz, Sara (Dennis) Welly, and Clare Wertz.

Barbara was born in Tiffin, OH and spent most of her life in Ohio.  She graduated with an accounting detree from Wright State University in Dayton, OH and became a certified public account while working several jobs and raising a family.  she married Walt in 1973 and gained a whole new family at the same time.  At the time of her retirement, Barbara was a regional vice president for Waste Management.

Barbara and Walt fulfilled their dream and moved to Naples, FL full time in 2000, where she was active in the community.  She was a member of the Unitarian Universalist Congregations of Greater Naples.  In addition, she always had tickets to local theater productions and loved attending their productions.  Another passion she and Walt shared was traveling around the country and world whnever they could.  When they were ome, they enjoyed having friends and family come and visit from the colder areas of the country.

She will be greatly missed by her family and friends for her generous spirot. helpfulness, strength of will and good advice.  Right up to the end, Barbara was planning and reminding her family of things that should be taken care of and what she had done already.

Family and friends were invited to a memorial service celebrating Barbara's life on December 19, 2009 at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation, 6340 Napa Woods Way, Naples, FL 34116.
