Marie B. Froehlich Miller, 73, passed away on Thursday, October 30, 2014, at her home in Salem, Va.She was born February 16, 1941, in Tiffin, Ohio, to the late William Carl Froehlich and Bertha Lovina (Schafer) Froehlich.

She married Vernon R Miller Jr. onJuly 29, 1962.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Ruth Berzins; and brother, Richard W. Froehlich. Surviving family includes her husband, Vernon (Nick); daughter, Maria M. (Josh) Sherman of Salem;son, Vernon C. Miller of Jacksonville, Fla.; and grandchildren, William R. Hall, Kathleen Anne Hall, and Kali Nicole Miller.

She graduated from Riverside School of Nursing in Toledo, Ohio, and helped put her husband through college and graduate school. As a registered nurse she worked in various roles, including emergency room nurse, Nursing Director at the Towers Hospital in Charlottesville, Va., and Assistant Director of Nursing at Roanoke College.

She was president of the Roanoke County Womans Club for eight years and president of the Blue Ridge District Womans Club, and was deeply involved in catering and editing of the newsletter and yearbooks.

At College Lutheran Church she oversaw the kitchen for many years, was on Church Council, sang and played bells in choir, and taught Sunday School Classes.

Her hobbies were cooking and baking, birding, traveling and her grandchildren.

Memorial Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 3, 2014, at College Lutheran Church in Salem with The Rev. Wynemah Hinlicky officiating. Inurnment will take place at a later date in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Tiffin, Ohio.The family will receive friends from 2 until 4 p.m. and from 6 until 8 p.m. at College Lutheran Church on Sunday, November 2, 2014.
