Larry served in the U.S. Air Force from 1966-1970. He married Lora Helms in 1972; they were divorced. He was self-employed as a refrigeration technician. He enjoyed NASCAR and restoring cars. He is survived by a son and three grandchildren.
According to his obit, Larry had lived in California for the last eight years of his life, but died in the VA Hospital in Topeka.
