Peter Whitaker

Wheeling, W. Va.—Private services were held here for Peter T. Whitaker, 25, Wheeling, a former Topekan, who died July 20 in a hospital here.

He had been admitted to a Topeka hospital May 22, 1971, and was released in June.  Earlier, he had been in the Topeka Convalescent Center.  He had a heart ailment.

He was born Oct. 4, 1945, at Wheeling, W. Va., where he spent his early life, and attended Wheeling Country Day Preparatory School.

While in Topeka, he attended Roosevelt Junior High School two years and was graduated from Topeka High School in 1964.  He attended Washburn University and the University of Denver and recently received his bachelor’s degree from Bethany College at Wheeling, W. Va.

He was active in dramatics at Topeka High and Washburn University and had lead roles in several school plays.  He also had played parts in “The Drunkard,” a Dale Easton Players Production.

He had directed and acted in the Oglebay Institute for the Town Gate Theater at Wheeling.

While in Topeka, he lived at 1195 Randolph for several years.  He was a member of Grace Episcopal Cathedral.

His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Albert C. Whitaker,Jr., Wheeling, survive.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Oglebay Institute or to the Bethany College Scholarship Fund, both at Wheeling.
