Edith Jane Greene

Edith Jane Greene, 54, died Sunday, Aug. 12, 2001, at a Topeka hospital of complications caused by diabetes.

She was born Oct. 10, 1946, in Seymour, Texas, to Wesley and Edith Chatham Copeland.  She attended Quinton Heights Elementary School and Crane Junior High School and graduated from Topeka High School.  She sang with several choral groups, including one that participated in a Billy Graham Crusade in Tampa, Fla.

She was a member of Heritage Park Wesleyan Church.

She married Ernest Greene in October 1969.  He survives.  Other survivors include two sons, James G. Greene, Topeka, and Michael H. Greene, Knoxville, Tenn.; a daughter, Adriane M. Hoskins, Topeka; three brothers, Charles Copeland, Randall Copeland and Melvin Copeland, all in Topeka; four sisters, Isla Hada, Alva, Okla., Linda Gakle, Burlington, Joanna Bayless, Perry, and Shirley Wheeler, Logansport, Ind., and six grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, in the garden chapel at Topeka Cemetery.  Burial will be in Topeka Cemetery.  Mrs. Greene will lie in state during visitation from 3 to 5 p.m. today at Penwell-Gabel Highland Chapel Funeral Home.
