Donna Douglas Benson

Donna Douglas Benson, 45, Ames, Iowa, formerly of Topeka, died Friday, April 3, 1992, at an Ames medical center.

Mrs. Benson was owner and operator of Donna Benson Graphic Design at Ames.  She had served on the Tom Harkin campaign staff 10 years.

She was born on April 13, 1946, at Topeka, the daughter of Dale M. and Margaret Calderwood Douglass.  She was graduated from Topeka High School and Washburn University.  She also attended Creighton University at Omaha, Neb.

Mrs. Benson was a member of First United Methodist Church in Ames.

She was married to Robert Benson April 10, 1974, at Ames.  He survives.  Other survivors include a daughter, Sarah Benson, at home,  an adopted daughter, Angela Slater, Ames, Iowa; two stepdaughters, Christina Benson and Susie Benson, both of Brainerd, Minn.; two stepsons, Rob Benson, at home and Jim Benson, Ames, Iowa; her stepfather and mother, Joe and Margaret Perkins, Topeka; a brother, Richard Douglass, Frankfort, Ky.; and a granddaughter.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in First United Methodist Church in Ames.  Burial will be in Ames Municipal Cemetery.  Visitation will be on Sunday afternoon and evening at Adams Funeral Home in Ames, where family and friends will meet from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday.  Memorial contributions may be made to Breast Cancer Research in care of the funeral home.
