Don moved with his family to Topeka when he was very young. He joined the Navy with his best friend when he was 18, and served two tours in Vietnam.
Don was passionate about the game of golf. He had a weekly Friday golf game and was proud of his many holes-in-one. After his death, a celebration of his life was held at Ken McDonald Golf Course at Tempe, Arizona.
Don is survived by his wife and daughter, a son-in-law, a brother, and his closest friends, Mike and Melissa Rightmire.
