Merle Revely

Merle Elmer Revely, 55, Topeka, died Monday, Aug. 19, 2002, at a local hospital.

Mr. Revely was an engineering technician for the Kansas Department of Transportation for 30 years.  He also was a certified machinist for the Santa Fe Railway Shops and had been a nursery worker at Skinner’s Nursery and a welder.

He was born in Topeka to Spencer and Louise Robinson Revely and graduated from Topeka High School.

Mr. Revely was a member of Second Baptist Church, the U.S. Chess Federation, the Kansas Chess Association, Radio Operated Auto Racing, Inc., and the Kansas City Model racing Association.  He played and officiated several sports.

Survivors include a son, Wesley Revely, Apple Valley, Minn.; and two brothers, Darrell Revely, St. Louis, and Gerald Revely, Bloomingdale, Ill.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Bowser-Johnson Funeral Chapel.  Inurnment is pending.  Mr. Revely will lie in state at the funeral chapel after 4 p.m. Friday where visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m.
