After Jack graduated from Topeka High, he served four years in the U.S. Navy as Crash Crew-Chief at Naval Air Station Patuxent River in Maryland. Following his military obligations, Jack attended Washburn University in Topeka.
Jack married Mary Lou Benda in 1970. They lived in Topeka, Kansas City, Missouri, and Manhattan, where they located in 1978.
Jack enjoyed hunting and fishing, as well as making things for family members in his workshop. He was a member of the Blackjack American legion and the Carpenters Local Union 918.
Jack is survived by his wife, two sons, a daughter-in-law, and six grandchildren.
Jack was buried in St. Patrick's Lake Elbo Cemetery.
