Karen Ann Oyler (Lenz)

Karen Ann (Oyler) Lenz, 62, of Liberty, Mo., peacefully passed away August 24, 2008 at home, surrounded by her family.  Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, August 28, at King of Kings Lutheran Church, 1701 N.E. 96th St., Kansas City, Mo., 64155.  A service celebrating Karen’s life will be held at 10:00 am Friday, August 29, at the church.  Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Kearney, Mo.  In lieu of flowers, you may honor Karen with a contribution to the King of Kings Lutheran Church Memorial Fund.

Karen was born April 8, 1945 in Clarinda, Iowa, the daughter of Robert Joseph and Dorothy Marie (Kuehnert) Oyler.  She graduated from Topeka High School in Topeka, Ks., and attended Washburn University.  Karen served as Director of Food Service at Holy Cross Lutheran School for 15 years, where she nurtured the lives of hundreds of children.  She and her husband Tom enjoyed travels on their motorcycle from coast to coast.  She was also an active supporter and volunteer for Boy Scouts of America.  Karen was a member of King of Kings Lutheran Church.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Michael Oyler, and granddaughter, Dorothy Delsemme.  Karen leaves her husband of 40 years, Thomas; three children, Deborah Delsemme (and husband Jeffrey), Brian Lenz (and wife Julie), and Daniel Lenz; her granddaughter, Ava Delsemme, a brother, Gary Oyler (and wife Suzanne); and sister-in-law, Bertie Oyler; as well as other relatives and many friends.  Karen will be lovingly remembered for her strong faith and as a remarkable mother and grandmother.  She will truly be missed.
