Dr. PAMELA JEAN McCLELLAND-COOPER Pamela (Pam) Jean McClelland-Cooper, 67, left this world to be with her Lord on February 23rd, 2014, in Katy TX,. She was born on May 16th, 1946 in Topeka, KS. Her parents, Edward R. McClelland, Jr., and Deloris Jean James McClelland preceded her in death. Pam attended Topeka Public Schools, beginning with McKinley Elementary School, which was segregated at the time. During her school years, she was very active in numerous clubs and organizations such as Student Council, Pep Club, Modern Dance Club, and Drill Team. Pamela (Pam) Jean McClelland-Cooper, 67, left this world to be with her Lord on February 23rd, 2014, in Katy TX,. She was born on May 16th, 1946 in Topeka, KS. Her parents, Edward R. McClelland, Jr., and Deloris Jean James McClelland preceded her in death.
Pam attended Topeka Public Schools, beginning with McKinley Elementary School, which was segregated at the time. During her school years, she was very active in numerous clubs and organizations such as Student Council, Pep Club, Modern Dance Club, and Drill Team. She was a Homecoming Queen Candidate at Topeka High School.
After graduation from Topeka High School, Pam attended Mount Saint Scholastica College where she received her Bachelor's Degree in Sociology/Psychology. She went on to obtain a Master of Science Degree in Counseling at Emporia State University, and a PhD in Adult and Occupational Analysis from Kansas State University. She also received certification as an Anger Resolution Therapist.
Pam married Enos Cooper in Topeka, in 1968. To this union one son, Contouri Cooper, was born. Both survive.
While living in Topeka, Pam served as the Kansas State Director of the Equal Employment Opportunity Office before moving to Houston, TX. Upon arriving in Houston, she worked with the City of Houston as the Chief Manager of the Administrative Division of the Solid Waste Department. She later worked for Citicard Financial Services, as the Director of Card Services. After retiring from there in 2006, not being able to remain idle, she went to work part-time as the Site Director for the Katy Family YMCA After School Program in Katy, TX.
Pam is survived by two sisters, Teri (McClelland) Johnson (Chester), and Debra McClelland; one brother, Edward R. McClelland, III (Maureen Reynolds); and one Sister-in-law, Donna Dillard. Other survivors include an aunt, Grace Hawkins; and two uncles, Robert James and Bruce James (Ursula), as well as many nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends who mourn her passing.
Pam was cremated at her request. Memorial services will be March 1, 2014 at 1:00 PM at Katy Funeral Home, 23350 Kingsland Boulevard in Katy, TX. A memorial service will also be held in Topeka, KS at a later date.

cryingcrying PAM WAS A SWEETHEART, AND A FUN CLASSMATE WELL LIKED BY MANY OF US. I DIDN'T GET TO SEE  HER, AFTER WE GRADUATED FROM HIGH SCHOOL. I'M SO HAPPY TO READ SHE LIVED HER LIFE TO THE FULLEST. GOD BLESS HER FAMILY, AND MANY FRIENDS SHE LEAVES TO REMEMBER THE SWEETHEART SHE REALLY WAS....PAM YOU WILL BE MISSED BY MANY, CLASSMATES OF 1964....A CLASSMATE, YOU WILL NOT BE FORGOTTEN MY DEAR ONE.
