Janet Elaine Vaughn, 62, of Topeka, passed away Friday, October 10, 2008, at a local hospital.
She was born August 11, 1946 in Topeka, the daughter of Douglas K. “Jack” and V. Maxine Counseller.
Janet was a graduate of Topeka High School. She was the office manager in her family business, Topeka Auto Fabric (TAFCO) until the business closed in 1981. She later retired from CoreFirst due to health reasons.
Janet was preceded in death by her father. Survivors include her mother, V. Maxine Counseller; two sisters, Joyce A. Hladky (Merle) and Diana C. Diegel (Robert), two nephews, a niece and a grand-nephew. Janet also leaves behind her beloved dog Maddie.
Janet will lie in state and the family will greet friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, October 13 at West Side Christian Church, 432 SW Lindenwood, Topeka, KS 66606. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 14 at the church with burial to follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
