Bill R. Schweitzer

Bill Scheitzer, 67, Hoyt, KS passed away Tuesday, January 14, 2014.  Bill resided in Hoyt, KS with his wife, Betty Lou Schweitzer and son Rodney Wayne Schweitzer.

Bill worked as a North Central Regional Manager for IAPMO.  Other jobs and volunteer activities included Chief Plumbing Inspector for the City of Topeka, Goodyear, Wabaunsee County Sheriff's Department, Big Brothers/Big Sisters and various plumbing companies.  Bill was a member of Local 165 Plumbers and Pipefitters, where he also supervised and trained apprentices.

Bill graduated from Topeka High School Class (1964) and attended Washburn and Purdue.  He served in the USMC from 1965-1967 and served in Vietnam.  He was a member of Post 400 and VFW Post 1367.

Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Betty Schweitzer; son, Rodney Schweitzer, grandchildren: Jaylin Joseph Schiefelbein and Brody William Schweitzer, Topeka; brother, Gerald (Sandy) Schweitzer; brother-in-law, Jack (Barbara) Housman; nieces: Leann Reschke, De Anna Wynkoop and Crystal Housman; nephew, Doug Housman.He was preceded in death by a son, Mark William Schweitzer (1999), Paxico; father, Harold Schweitzer, mother, Bertha Mae (Midge Dunlap) Smith.

Bill was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle; and a loyal friend to many.  He enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing, racing and was a car connoisseur.
