Roger Daryl Rake, 70, of Topeka, passed away Wednesday, November 30, 2016.

Roger was born in Topeka on November 30, 1946, the son of Lewis and Ferne Engel Rake. He graduated from Topeka High School in 1964. Roger served in the U.S. Navy from 1966 to 1969 and was a veteran of the Vietnam War.

Roger married Connie Teresa Heald on August 5, 1972. They were married for 34 years, until Connie's passing in 2006.

He was a faithful employee of Goodyear Tire Company for 35 years. In his spare time, Roger enjoyed fishing, stamp collecting and had a passion for the blues.

Roger is survived by his two sons, John Rake (Michelle) and Jeff Rake (Chelsey); two grandchildren, Ava and Amelia; sister, Sharon McDorman (Richard Long); and brother-in-law, Tom Heald (Mary). Roger was also preceded in death by his parents and his father and mother-in-law, Mark and Teresa Heald.

Family will greet friends from 2-4 p.m. Sunday at Kevin Brennan Family Funeral Home, 2801 SW Urish Road, Topeka KS 66614. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Monday at Mater Dei Holy Name Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider doing something nice for someone in honor of Roger's kind and generous nature, or donations can be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
