I spent 6 years in the Marine Corps, where I worked as an air traffic controller at MCAS El Toro in Orange County. During those years, I was sent on deployment aboard the USS Essex from Oct 1994 to Apr 1995. I was part of operation United Shield in Feb and Mar of 1995, where we supported the withdrawal of UN troops from Somalia. After I got out of the Marines, I was hired by the FAA as a controller at Gillespie Field, a small airport in the San Diego area. I eventually moved into approach control for the Southern California area, also located in San Diego. I am currently controlling the flow of aircraft in and out the Los Angeles airport and the surrounding area, including Santa Monica, Torrance, Long Beach, Hawthorne and John Wayne.
