John Swantek

Married a New Zealander after the Navy (four trips to the South Pole). Divorced. Married Anita, a Shaker High grad, 15 years ago. We travel a lot. Spent a month in France. Great wine. Two months in New Zealand. I still write pretty much every day. On my sixth novel.

As you can see from our yearbook, mine included just my name and address.

I used to walk by the front door of good old Troy High and head to the Troy Public Library to learn what I really wanted to know about.

So, while I remember many of the faces, there are few "times" I remember about my years at our alma mater.

I do remember the day Guy Enfanto called me to the office and announced I was a full Regents Scholarship winner. Never used it.

Graduated from Syracuse in 1975 and got an MBA there in 1987. In 2002, got another masters. This time in Museum Studies. Not bad for a South Troy kid who didn't like classrooms.

Was reporter, political correspondent and managing editor of the Troy Record for a few years. Retired as Public Affairs Director for the Watervliet Arsenal.

Have written several books."Moon Cursers," historical novel, is available on Amazon. Four-book fantasy series available on my website: www.johnswantek.com. (Takes place in South Troy!) Latest is an adult novel about folks living in a "senior residence."
