In Memory

Randy Lewis

Randy entered into eternal rest on January 28, 2001. He was born May 30, 1951 in Sidney, Ohio. Randy is best remembered for his gift and love of music. He was a member of the Tucson Boys Chorus and sang at the Kennedy inauguration. As an accomplished actor and singer, he worked with both local singing and theater groups. Randy taught in the Tucson area school district as both Director of the Music and Musical Theatre Departments. He was a counselor at Wheeler Elementary School and directed choir at local Tucson Churches and most recently at Christ the King. Randy, you will be missed by all. Your energetic personality, love of God, and gift of life will be with us forever.

I met Randy when he was in the Tucson Boys Choir through Peggy (Howe) Schumaker. I always thought a lot of Randy. I remember him as always being extremely polite and clean-cut. He ran around with Dennis Rust and Mark Varvir in high school. Several years later my niece had Randy as a music teacher in jr. high, I believe. Rachel thought the world of him and my sister Kathy said he worked wonders with the kids. Rachie was quite upset when he passed away, as I was when I found out. Kathy called me right away to tell me what had happened. Randy touched many lives, perhaps more than he realized.

Randy was the reason I joined the Tucson Boys Chorus and toured for three years. He changed my life profoundly for the good. Randy was one of the finest, most honorable Christian men I had the pleasure to know. At his funeral his students had literally papered the walls of his church with memories of him. It was a great legacy to a wonderful man.
