Willis Filkel

Mr. Willis M. Filkel, 72, of Noel, MO, formerly of Tulsa, OK, departed this life on Friday, 9/13/2013, at the Freeman Hospital in Neosho, MO, after a long illness.

Willis entered this life on 3/5/1941, in Jay, OK, to the late Clifford M. & Delvina Louis (Underwood) Filkel. He was raised in Tulsa, OK, and was a 1959 graduate of Will Rogers High School. He furthered his education by receiving his bachelor's degree from Tulsa University. On 3/17/1961, in Tulsa he was united in marriage to Barbara J. Borden and to this union a son and daughter were born. They resided in Tulsa until moving to Jay, OK, in 1986 and later to Noel, MO, in 2012. Throughout his life he worked in the field of sales. He enjoyed gardening and spending time outdoors. Willis was a member of the First Baptist Church in Noel, MO.
Willis is survived by his wife of 52 years, Barbara Filkel of the home; two children, David Filkel of Jay, OK, and Stacy Stigall and husband Brian of Noel, MO; four grandchildren, BJ Stigall and wife Heather, as well as Josh and Lisi Stigall and Tim Filkel; a sister, Nancy Raulston of Dallas, TX; as well as a host of other family and friends.
Several classmates were able to attend the funeral -Bill & Linda (Maxwell) Warren, Beth Abdo Dennis, Glenn Beaustring, Sam & Cherri Densmore, and Dean & Sonja (Burkhart) Englund.

Dolly Gillies (Jacobs)

Willis was my date to the junior prom. He was a very nice guy and a gentleman. I remember he brought me an orchid corsage and I was so impressed because mostly we got carnations! Lovely boy!

Betty Bard (Hatchett)

One of "my brothers",a gentle giant, and he wouldn't stop growing. So difficult to say good-bye at the 2012 reunion.I miss him..
