I've known Mike since grade school at Northington Elementary and he was always one of the nicest guys around.  And a whole lot smarter than me.  Duh. But I had several times in our adult lives to see him through photographing him as an attorney, although I haven't seen him in about 6 years now.  A kind and humble soul.  Rest in piece Mike.

Echoing the thoughts of Crosby, I, too, began school at Northington with Mike and throughout our years in school Mike was a wonderful sweet spirit. I have not seen Mike since moving to Chicagoland, but when I lived in Tuscaloosa, ocasionally crossed paths with him and he never changed. I hope someone will post his obituary. May he rest in peace and I was blessed by having known him.

Crosby, you described Mike well. He and I, and classmate Sherry Coleman, started Sunday School together around age five...at Hargrove Methodist Church. Mike's family was his Mom...a tiny little person, and his sweet grandparents. I can honestly say, Mike had the same sweet face at five as he did in elementary school, high school, college, and the last time I saw him at my going away party at the Department. I got to work with him on a few cases when he was an assistant DA, and he was so sharp and caring of our young clients. To his family I send my most heartfelt condolences, and to our classmates...enough already. No more deaths before the reunion,  just can not deal. Seriously, love to all our friends and stay safe!

Mike was a classmate at the UA School of Law and it was good to reconnect with him there after we attended different undergraduate schools.  We were both in the second section because we were in the last half of the alphabet and we were in most classes together our first two years.  He was a high quality classmate and friend who was always willing to discuss a case or commisserate about a horrible personal performance in the classroom in response to some professor's spirited use of the Socratic Method.  It seems that he did not change much between Norhtington and law school.  RIP counsellor.
