Catching Up

Please post photos or videos here whenever you connect with fellow Classmates. Always add a caption - in case we've forgotten what they look like!! If you take the photos and videos and email them to cedric@cornerstonec.co.za - together with the caption - I'll post them on your behalf. Please take photos at the Wanderers when next the Clan gathers.

Hudson, Smith & Heathcote caught shooting the breeze

On a recent trip to Harare in January 2018 Grant (centre - in case you didn't recognise him) caught up with Garth Heathcote and John Smith. They celebrated by downing an ale (or two - or more) together. All have vowed to be at our reunion later this year.

Jetsetting Hudsons making the Swiss Connection with the Béchets

On a trip to Europe in December 2017, Grant and Heidi (third from left) were entertained royally by Marc Béchet and his wife Laura (second from left) at a superb retaurant in Zurich. Heidi was celebrating her 29th or 39th birthday (Grant wasn't sure which)!!

1st Footnote: Marc paid - a welcome relief for my battered credit card - those Swiss know how to charge!

2nd Footnote: Marc, John and Garth are all confirmed for our reunion in August!

Our temporary posie in Burnie Tasmania

Take a brief look at our temporary arrangements in Tassie

Greetings from Sydney

On our way to Tasmania I had the great pleasure of catching up with two of our esteemed Classmates - Terry Winter (and his lovely wife Louise) and Ant Shubitz. I interviewed both of them. Here is the first interview with Terry and Louise:

A few days later we met with Ant Shubitz in downtown Sydney:

The next generation coming through!

This picture was taken on 6 May 2017 showing Christie Bradford with her dad Frank - and Grant Hudson with his daughter Megan at the Graduation Ceremony at UCT. In keeping with the family tradition Christie and Megan are the best of mates!

Distinguished Speakers Program (DSP)

We launched the Distinguished Speakers Program at FNB in Umhlanga on St Patricks's Day (17 March 2016) and were privileged to have Prof Brian Kantor as our first speaker. What an outstanding speaker he is! We staged these events on a Thursday evening each quarter. Some of the speakers we've had over the past 2 years include: Pravin Gordhan; Mmusi Maimane; Prince Mangosuthu (Gatsha) Buthelezi; Joel Stern; Peter Major; Oregan Hoskins and Prof Richard Calland.

Present at our launch event were Stephen Saunders, yours truly, Heinz Kusel, and Nico Kruger:

The Hills at Pentre Hodre

We had a great trip to the UK in October and November 2015. One of the highlights was visiting Alan & Pat Hill (and their son Edward) in Shropshire. He recorded a message to Classmates and I took some photos of their home at Pentre Hodre farm in Bucknell. We shared a leisurely lunch with them there. It was a memorable occasion! Alan vowed to make it to our 30th reunion in 2018

MBA impromptu dinner in Sandton to celebrate the Greek miracle in July 2004

- winning the European Soccer Championship! We set it up so that as Haris Marcopoulos arrived the restaurant staff smashed plates and sang the Greek National Anthem - "Hymn to Liberty" - in his honour!

Haris - looking as proud as punch!

Neil Kirkpatrick saying grace:

Tim Woodhead and Mike Ten Hope looking pensive:

Stuart Ross claiming that even Malawi would have beaten Greece. Mike closes his eyes in disbelief - and Grant studies the menu:

Neil & Haris looking very pleased with themselves!

Pete Williams is animated as he makes a point - which Mike seems to agree with. Nico Kruger is otherwise engaged

Mike, Nico, yours truly (looking a little 'under the weather') and the late Geoff Midlane:
