After high school I moved to Toronto where I worked in sales for the Toronto Star. In 2001 I decided to go back to school. I was interested in Pathology and ended up getting a degree in Medical Laboratory Science at UBC. Immediately after graduation I was offered a job at the BC Cancer Agency to start a Immunohistochemistry and Histology Lab. The purpose of this lab is to preserve tissue for analysis to find "markers" that are on cancer cells that are not on normal cells to then target drugs to only the cancer cells.
In my personal life I married in 2006 to my long time boyfriend Oscar Furtado. We just had our first child in August named India. We have just moved back from Vancouver to Victoria to be close to family while raising our little girl.
